Irish-owned chemical solutions provider Chemical Solutions Group has bought Celtic Water Care Solutions Limited, a Cork-based wastewater and effluent treatment chemicals specialist.

The transaction will bring CWC into the group as a wholly owned subsidiary and supports CSG's long-term growth strategy, with the €65m business targeting revenues of €150m by 2030, complementing its recent expansion into the UK and ongoing multi-million euro investment at its sites in Shannon and Foynes.

Founded in 2000 and employing 14 people, Celtic Water Care Solutions Limited is a wastewater and effluent treatment specialist based in Little Island, Co Cork.

The company supplies treatment products and end-to-end solutions to more than 200 private-sector customers across Ireland, including food and beverage manufacturers, dairy processors, design-build-operate contractors and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

CWC is focused exclusively on wastewater and effluent treatment and does not supply products for potable water or hygiene.

CSG is the parent company and comprises of Chemifloc, GI Chemicals Ireland, GI Chemical Solutions UK, and Chemilab and currently employs 100 people, operating across Ireland and the UK.

It offers specialist chemistry expertise across potable water, wastewater, environmental and hygiene applications.

The CEO of CSG, Kevin Quinn, said the company "has been evolving from a single-brand chemical supplier into a broader family of specialist solution providers for water-intensive industries. The acquisition of Celtic Water Care Solutions is part of this strategy, adding further regional depth and service capability and extending CSG’s reach in industrial wastewater."

Mr Quinn added that bringing Celtic Water Care Solutions under the CSG umbrella strengthens the company’s presence in Cork and the wider Munster region.

The founder and owner of Celtic Water Care Solutions Limited John O’Connor said that for its customers, the acquisition means continuity – "the same team, the same hands-on approach and the same understanding of their plants and processes, now backed by the technical strength and security of supply that CSG provides."

Under the new ownership, CWC will continue to serve customers as part of the CSG group, working closely with the Chemifloc and GI Chemicals teams to align service, safety and sustainability standards.

Financial terms of the transaction are not being disclosed.
