The DAA, which operates Dublin and Cork Airports, has appointed a deputy CEO.
The development follows months of wrangling between the company's CEO Kenny Jacobs and its board of directors.
A spokesperson for the DAA would not comment on the stand-off between Mr Jacobs and the board.
It is understood there has been legal correspondence sent by both sides in the dispute.
The organisation announced to staff today that it is appointing Nick Cole to the newly created position of deputy CEO.
Mr Cole is currently CEO of DAA International and will combine in new duties with his existing responsibilities.
An exit package had been agreed between the DAA and Mr Jacobs in mid September.
However, the package has not been signed off by Minister for Transport Darragh O'Brien and Minister for Public Expenditure Jack Chambers.
In the meantime, Mr Jacobs has continued in his role.
