Tesco Ireland said today that all its hourly-paid store and distribution workers will receive a 3% pay increase from January 1, 2026.

This will bring the supermarket's average hourly rate to €18.13.

Tesco Ireland employs over 13,500 permanent staff across 188 stores, distribution centres and offices around Ireland and is one of the country's biggest private sector employers.

Tesco said that including a €3.5m investment in the Auto-Enrolment pension scheme for over 4,000 workers, its additional investment in pay and benefits will be over €15m in 2026.

This latest award builds on over €30m invested in pay and benefits in the last two years.

Tesco also announced a further €3m investment in additional permanent work hours for its staff, which it said will support its teams in large stores and its online operations to better serve its growing customer base.

Maurice Kelly, People Director at Tesco Ireland, said the latest pay increases and investment in additional hours reflects the company's ongoing commitment to supporting their financial well-being and work-life balance.

"Along with market leading benefits for colleagues likes free Virtual GP care and our family leave policies, we're ensuring Tesco remains a highly attractive place to work and leading the way in colleague salaries and benefits," he added.
