Accumulated profits at the royalties firm owned by one of the heroes of this year's European Ryder Cup triumph, Shane Lowry, surged to €19.7 million in 2024.
New accounts filed by the Co Offaly man’s SFL Marketing Ltd show that the firm recorded post-tax profits of €5.3m for 2024.
In a bumper year for the company, the post-tax profits of €5.3m are a 31% increase on the post-tax profits of €4.03m for 2023.
The 2019 Open winner was only 22 when he set up the royalties firm in March 2010, which was one year after he won the Irish Open as an amateur.
Mr Lowry set up the company to carry on the business of promoting, marketing and development of trademarks and royalties, and it recorded profits of €145,693 in its first year, and the business has flourished since, in keeping with Mr Lowry’s stellar career on the golf course.
The new accounts show that cash funds at the company last year increased marginally from €5.24m to €5.28m.
The value of the company’s financial assets almost doubled from €6.1m to €11.3m.
The financial assets include fixed asset investments with a book value of €6.13m that included additions of €2.67m during the year.
The financial assets also included an investment property, which had a book value of €5.17m at the end of last year.
The €5.17m book value included additions of €5.02m during the year, offset by disposals of €2.49m.
In September at the Bethpage Black course on Long Island, Mr Lowry enjoyed a career highlight when his putt on the 18th green on the final day of singles helped Europe retain the Ryder Cup in dramatic circumstances.
Mr Lowry revealed at the time that he told his caddie, "I have a chance to do the coolest thing in my life here" while walking up the 18th.
Earlier this year, Mr Lowry set up his own management company after a 15-year-long association with Horizon Sports Management.
The golfer’s website lists his commercial partners as Bank of Ireland, Teneo, Mastercard, Jameson, Srixon, Amgen and BMW, while Mr Lowry’s charity partner is Children’s Health Foundation Temple Street.
Mr Lowry has also partnered with publican Alan Clancy to open a bar, restaurant and café, the Old Warehouse in Tullamore, Co Offaly.
Accounts for the business filed by Emante Ltd show that it recorded post-tax profits of €49,889 for 2024.
The firm employs 47 people, and staff costs last year totalled €1m. Mr Lowry’s SFL Marketing has a 40% share in the pub firm.
Across his career on the European DP Tour, Mr Lowry has recorded six DP World wins and amassed €23.87m in career earnings.
In 2015, Mr Lowry joined the PGA in the US and his career winnings on that tour total $30.3m.
Separate accounts filed this week show that pre-tax profits at the golf royalty earnings firm owned by US Masters champion Rory McIlroy last year declined by 11% to $8.2m (€7.1m).
Accounts filed by the golfer’s - Rory McIlroy Management Services Ltd show that the company recorded the drop in pre-tax profits as revenues declined by 2% from $36.12m to $35.4m.
The pre-tax profit for the Dublin-based firm takes account of a non-cash write-down of $15.7m in Mr McIlroy’s image rights during the year in accordance with accountancy rules.
The accounts disclose that the net cash generated by the company from operating activities totalled $25.31m for 2024.
