New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that wholesale electricity prices rose by 6.6% in October when compared with September but were 18.5% lower than October last year.

The CSO said that wholesale electricity prices have tumbled by about 74% when compared with the peak that occurred in August 2022.

Today's figures also show that producer prices for food products increased by 0.3% since September and rose by 4.1% in the year since October 2024.

Some of the biggest increases in producer prices for food products over the 12 months to October were for dairy products, which jumped by 11.1%, while meat and meat products were up 6.6%.

The CSO said that producer prices for products sold on the domestic market were 1.2% higher in October of this year compared with the same month last year.
