It said the new manufacturing facility in Virginia will bring its manufacturing capacity to more than 500,000 sq ft worldwide, adding that it marked a major milestone in its international growth strategy to achieve $500m in annual revenue by 2030.
Founded in 1982, CEL designs and manufactures power solutions for the global AI and cloud industry, including low-voltage power distribution systems, switchgear equipment and Remote Power Panels (RPPs).
The company said its power solutions have been future proofed to cater for the workloads of the next generation of AI microchips currently being developed and will also serve as an important enabler of the emerging Neo-Cloud industry.
Niall McFadden, Group Managing Director of CEL, said that as part of a capital commitment of $40m, the opening of the new US facility is a key step on the company's ambitious growth plans for CEL and demonstrates its long-term commitment to supporting our strategic customers in their largest and fastest-growing market, the US.
"This company is more than 40 years in business, and it has a proud history of innovation to meet the changing needs of its customers. With the AI revolution set to transform our society over the coming years, CEL is once again investing and evolving to meet the changing needs of our customers," he stated.
Jenny Melia, CEO of Enterprise Ireland, said CEL's multimillion-dollar investment underscores Irish companies' commitment to continued expansion in the USA, delivering mutual economic benefit through job creation, supply-chain integration and technology leadership.
"The Irish-American relationship is a cornerstone of shared prosperity. By nurturing innovation and adaptability, Enterprise Ireland ensures Irish exporters continue to deliver value, reinforcing this vital alliance for years to come," she added.
Peter Burke, the Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, said that CEL is an Irish company that has experienced impressive growth as a key supplier to the global data centre industry and this announcement shows that Ireland is to the forefront of development and innovation in this sector.
"The Irish Government through Enterprise Ireland looks forward to continued engagement with CEL to support their business development in overseas markets. Today's announcement highlights the depth of the economic ties between both countries and the continued partnership and commitment by Irish companies in the US," the Minister added.
