The vast majority of consumers still use AIB, Bank of Ireland or PTSB for the bulk of their banking, but most younger customers also use Revolut, according to the Department of Finance's latest Consumer Sentiment Banking Survey.
It found that 89% of consumers here still use one of the country's big three banks for their main account.
Meanwhile 89% of people say they are satisfied with their main financial provider.
However, 43% say they use fintechs - like Revolut - which is up four percentage points on last year and 10 percentage points on 2023.
The use of fintechs was particularly pronounced among younger consumers.
More than two thirds of 18 to 24 year olds say they use Revolut at least occassionally - compared to just 14% of over 65s.
The survey also highlights some of the other ways different demographics handle their finances.
Nearly three quarters of 18 to 24 year olds use mobile apps as the main way of interacting with their banks, while 53% of over 65s prefer to go in-branch.
The majority, 55% of 18 to 24 year olds, prefer to make payments contactlessly through their phones, while 45% of over-65s prefer cash payments.
