Co Cavan-headquartered renewable energy services and development business Galetech Group said it will create 65 jobs over the next three years as part of a major business expansion to double the size of the business.
The company is on track to deliver a 1,000 megawatt (MW) development pipeline of renewables projects in wind and battery storage, while simultaneously expanding into a range of new international markets such as the UK, Africa and Australia.
Founded in 2000, Galetech Group currently employs more than 150 staff across its business units in in renewable energy development, project management, maintenance and repair services, and sustainable buildings.
Over the past 25 years, the company has delivered more than 650 MWs of wind energy projects through a combination of joint ventures and development partnerships.
The new roles include engineering, planning, design, technical support, sales and business support in HR, finance and IT positions and the company's expansion is being supported by Enterprise Ireland.
Darren Sherry, CEO of Galetech Group, said that with the global energy transition moving into a critical phase the company is ready to play its part.
"Just like our food industry exports finished products all over the world, at Galetech we believe it's essential for Ireland to invest in these emerging technologies so we can add value to the renewable energy produced on this island, rather than simply exporting electricity to neighbouring markets," he said.
"This is the biggest opportunity for the green economy, particularly if we can develop solutions for difficult to decarbonise sectors such as aviation," he stated.
Mark Christal, Head of Sustainability at Enterprise Ireland, said the agency is committed to supporting Irish companies as they scale to serve markets at home and abroad, and Galetech Group is an exemplar of that.
"This exciting expansion announcement today on their plans to double the size of the business will also create 65 new high-quality jobs, with many of these being created in the local community," he said.
"Ambitious companies like the Galetech Group are not only delivering sustainable solutions for global energy challenges, but they are delivering regional growth. We will continue to work closely with Galetech Group as an Enterprise Ireland client company to support them as they continue to grow and scale and expand their global footprint," he added.
