New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that producer prices for food products increased by 4.4% in the 12 months to August, with big increases seen in the wholesale prices of dairy products and meat products.
Today's CSO figures show that the wholesale prices of dairy products jumped by 11.1%, while meat and meat products rose by 7.3%. But wholesale prices of vegetable and animal oils and fats sank by 16.2%.
The CSO also said today that wholesale electricity prices dropped by 3.3% in August when compared with July and were 4% lower than the same month last year. They have fallen by 75.1% compared to their peak in August 2022.
Today's figures also show that producer prices for products sold on the domestic market were 1.2% higher in August compared with August 2024.
In the 12 months to August, export producer prices fell by 3.4%, while overall producer prices were down by 3%, the CSO added.
