ALDI Ireland has opened its newest store today in Waterford City.

The new €3.8m city centre store in Waterford's City Square Shopping Centre will replace the existing store at The Glen.

The Glen store, which opened its doors in 2006, was the first ALDI store in Waterford.

Since then, ALDI has invested a total of more than €28m in Waterford.

ALDI's supplier spend in Waterford amounted to €29m last year and the retailer partners with local suppliers such as Dawn Meats Ireland, Team Kit Supply Ltd and Edward Flahavan & Sons.

ALDI works with a network of over 330 suppliers across Ireland, spending over €1.1 billion with them annually.

The new store is powered by 100% green electricity and features the retailer's electronic shelf labels in store in place of traditional paper price labels, meaning that stock or price changes can be quickly and easily communicated to customers.

Robbie Kavanagh, ALDI Waterford City Store Manager, said the new store will be a great addition to the area.
