Ryanair has started construction of its new €40m aircraft maintenance facility at Dublin Airport.
The new four bay hangar will create over 200 new jobs for engineers and mechanics.
The new 120,000 square foot foot hangar will facilitate the heavy and line maintenance of Ryanair's growing fleet as ite continues to take delivery of more efficient new technology 737-8200 aircraft.
These new planes can carry 4% more passengers while they will also cut CO2 emissions by 16% and noise by 40%.
In addition to a more environmentally efficient fleet, Ryanair said its new hangar at Dublin will also be one of the most environmentally efficient hangars in the EU with gas absorption heat pumps reducing energy use by up to 35%.
Ryanair COO Neal McMahon said the new hangar will see Ryanair invest a further €40m in Dublin, significantly expand its current Dublin maintenance facility, and create over 200 highly paid jobs for engineers and mechanics.
