Live Register numbers up 2% in December - CSO

New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that the seasonally adjusted Live Register total for December was 166,600 people, an increase of 3,200 or 2% from November.

The CSO said the unadjusted Live Register total stood at 164,806 people for December, of which 55% were men.

Today's figures show that the 25-34 years age group made up the largest number of those on the Live Register in December at 23.2% of the total.

They also reveal that two counties recorded percentage increases in the number of people on the Live Register in the 12 months to December - Kildare, which saw an increae of 3.8%, and Dublin with a rise of 0.6%.

The CSO noted there were 108,451 people on the Live Register for less than one year in December, which was 2,257 fewer people (2%) than December 2023.
