Dublin-based aircraft leasing company Avolon said it bought 45 aircraft last year and also agreed deals for the acquisition of another 138 aircraft, including the acquisition of Castlelake Aviation Limited.

During the year, Avolon sold 55 aircraft and ended 2024 with 64 aircraft agreed for sale.

It owned, managed and committed fleet of 1,129 aircraft at the end of 2024, including the proposed acquisition of Castlelake Aviation Limited which was announced in September.

Castlelake Aviation had total assets of $5 billion as of the end of March and its portfolio includes 105 aircraft on lease, commitments for 13 new-technology aircraft, two engines on lease and nine loans.

Avolon also announced a partnership with Airbus ZEROe to support the development of hydrogen-powered commercial aircraft and agreed a partnership with Air New Zealand to support the commercialization of clean tech aircraft.
