New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that the seasonally adjusted Live Register total for November fell by 6,300 (3.7%) to 162,900 people from the previous month.
Today's figures show that the unadjusted Live Register total stood at 158,267 people for November of which 55.7% were male.
The CSO noted that the 35-44 years age group made up the largest number of those on the Live Register in November at 36,730 people or 23.2% of the total.
Kildare was the only county that recorded an increase in the number of people on the Live Register in the 12 months to November, with numbers there up 4.4%.
The Live Register is not designed to measure unemployment as it includes part-time workers as well as seasonal and casual workers who are entitled to Jobseeker's Benefit or Jobseeker's Allowance.
Figures from the CSO earlier this week showed that the unemployment rate fell to 4.1% in November from 4.2% a month earlier.
