A new, bigger H&M store has opened today in Athlone Towncentre following a €3 million investment by the retailer.

H&M has amalgamated two units at both ground floor and first floor level, increasing the store size from 11,887 sq. ft to 15,192 sq.

The retailer has signed a new ten year lease at the centre, which now has an occupancy rate of 98%.

The letting agents are Bannon and Cushman & Wakefield.

According to Bannon, the experience at Athlone Towncentre is reflective of how the market is moving currently in that well managed, performing assets continue to track ahead of sales versus past years and there’s a positive outlook for 2025.

"At virtually full occupancy now and with an eye-catching and diverse retail mix, the next number of trading weeks to Christmas promise to be very busy," said Jennifer Mulholland, Director at Bannon.

"We're anticipating increased footfall and that commercial activity will make a significant contribution to the local economy," she added.
