Nearly half of workers in Ireland feel their industry is experiencing labour shortages, new data shows.

The research was carried out by Fragomen Ireland, a company that provides immigration services.

Just under three-quarters of healthcare workers observed shortages, followed by those in education and construction - with nearly half of construction workers noting a shortage in their field.

Meanwhile, one in three people believe immigration rules and requirements are a key challenge for employers looking to recruit talent from outside the EU.

"Immigration policies are just as crucial for business compliance as standard workplace policies," said Angel Bello Cortes, Partner at Fragomen Ireland.

"While recent legislative changes to the Employment Permits are a step in the right direction, more needs to be done to further facilitate Irish companies' access to global talent," he added.
