Galway-based HC Financial has been bought by NFP, an international insurance brokerage and consultancy which is part of the Aon group.

Since 1988, HC Financial has provided clients in the West of Ireland with investment, pension and savings propositions.

NFP said the acquisition consolidates its financial planning and employee benefits capabilities, while also expanding its presence into the West of Ireland.

Under the terms of today's deal, the HC Financial team will join NFP, with founder and director Gerry Cuddy moving into a consultant role reporting to Colm Power, the managing director, Benefits and Wealth at NFP Ireland.

"We're excited to join NFP, a company that shares our core values of honesty, integrity, transparency and expertise," Gerry Cuddy said.

"Today is a great day for our customers and employees and the future of NFP in Ireland as we expand the solutions and expertise available to our clients," he added.

"Gerry and his team have built a fantastic, highly regarded advisory business with an extremely loyal client base, and we're excited they will be part of our future growth," Colm Power said.

"This significant acquisition will help us meet the growing demand for benefits and wealth planning expertise and expand NFP's physical footprint outside the Dublin market," he added.

Last month, NFP bought Dublin-based IHI Group, an advisory firm specialising in financial planning, healthcare and general insurance needs.

And in August, it acquired Orca Financial Group, a specialist financial brokerage based in Leopardstown, Co Dublin.
