New research from hiring platform Indeed shows there has been a slight fall in the availability of part-time Christmas jobs compared to last year.
The company said that as of 25 October, seasonal job postings were down 3% on 2023 numbers.
Searches for Christmas jobs, as a share of all searches in Ireland, are running at the strongest pace in recent years, up 5% on 2023 levels.
According to Indeed, hiring for the festive season generally starts in August and peaks in November as employers seek much-needed part-time staff ahead of the busy Christmas period.
Job postings show that if Santa Claus was tempted to leave the North Pole for some additional seasonal work, he could earn up to €25 an hour.
Santa's helpers can expect to earn up to €15 an hour and can increase that to €16 if they have photography skills.
Elves, meanwhile, are somewhat lower down the salary scale with roles advertised at €12.90 an hour.
The data shows the businesses with the highest share of seasonal ads are all retailers with Boots, Rituals, Carraig Donn, Card Factory and Pandora among the top employers.
Seasonal retail staff can earn up to €18 an hour and Christmas hospitality roles are being advertised at rates of up to €15 an hour.
Jobs for temporary postal operatives are advertised at just over €16 an hour and seasonal event crew workers can earn just under €20 an hour.
"Employers in Ireland are gearing up ahead of the holiday season, though Christmas job postings are pacing slightly behind previous years," said Jack Kennedy, Senior Economist at Indeed.
"The available part-time roles are likely to be filled more easily this year given we are seeing a greater share of seasonal job searches than has been experienced in previous years."
"The recently announced Budget 2025 measures sought to address cost of living pressures with a series of one-off payments and supports. Retailers may be cautiously hoping this will lead to improved consumer sentiment and a boost in seasonal spending," Mr Kennedy said.
