Irish software start-up Slick has secured "milestone" funding of €500,000, with €150,000 secured from Enterprise Ireland through its High Potential Start-Up (HPSU) programme.
This investment, which is match funded by Growing Capital VC, comes with an additional €200,000 to be unlocked based on performance, and will fuel the company's growth and product development.
Slick+ said the new funding marks a crucial step for it as it addresses the challenge of capturing, curating and sharing organisation-specific knowledge in the hybrid world of work.
The investment will also enable the creation of 12 new jobs over the next 12 months - mainly in product development, marketing, partnerships and customer success roles.
Founded in October 2023 and co-located between Sligo and Galway, Slick+ has developed a short-form, video-based social learning solution that brings a consumer-grade experience to the world of work.
The company has more than 20 corporate clients.
Linda Hegarty, CXO and Co-founder of Slick+, said the investment from Enterprise Ireland is a testament to the potential of its innovative solution to knowledge sharing and to the dozens of organisations it supports and partners with.
"In today's hybrid work environment, ensuring that organisational knowledge is accessible and engaging is more crucial than ever, particularly for onboarding (and retaining) new hires and mentoring virtual teams," she said.
"With this funding, we're poised to expand our team and accelerate our product development, bringing our solution to more businesses across Ireland, the UK and beyond," she added.
Donnchadh Cullinan, Department Manager, ICT HPSU at Enterprise Ireland, said the organisation supports innovative start-ups that offer solutions to global problems.
"Slick+'s novel and innovative easy-to-use solution provides an effective approach to tackling the challenges of knowledge management in the modern workplace," he said.
"Today's announcement will further allow Slick+ to grow and compete and bring its platform to the next level," he added.
Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Peter Burke said that innovation is crucial for Irish start-ups to grow and scale both here and on an international level.
"The success of Slick+ centres on their ability to listen to the needs of the market and provide an innovative product offering which will help companies share organisation-specific knowledge in this new era of hybrid working," the Minister said.
"High Potential Start-up companies like Slick+ are vital components of a robust economy and the investment secured is a testament to the dedication of the Slick+ team," he added.
