Businesswoman Aimee Connolly oversaw a 50% increase in revenues in her "Sculpted by Aimee" cosmetics business to €22.23m last year.

In a record-breaking year for the cosmetics company, Sculpted by Aimee Connolly Cosmetics Ltd, revenues surged by €7.4m from €14.75m to €22.23m.

On the back of the sharp rise in revenues, pre-tax profits at the company increased by 20% from €2.39m to €2.89m.

CEO Ms Connolly (31) only established her cosmetics business in 2016 after she saved up €10,000 by working as a freelance makeup artist.

The business mixes bricks and mortar stores and engaging in-person brand experiences along with its thriving www.SculptedbyAimee.com e-commerce business.

The increase in revenues followed the company enjoying the first full year of operations of the firm's flagship Grafton Street store in Dublin which opened in September 2022 and the opening last year of the brand's store at Victoria Square in Belfast and a store on London's Carnaby Street.

The Sculpted by Aimee brand also has an outlet at Kildare Village. The company has continued its expansion in the UK this year by launching in Selfridges.

In 2021 Ms Connolly - who has 208,000 followers on Instagram - won the Emerging Category at the EY Entrepreneur of the Year awards.

The "Sculpted" brand business sells a range of makeup brushes, lipsticks, palettes, eye lashes, foundations and instant tan where a range is available at Boots.

The business continued to expand last year as numbers employed almost doubled rising from 26 to 49.

Staff costs at the company increased by 120% from €1.12m to €2.47m.

The profits last year take account of non-cash depreciation costs of €239,308.

The firm recorded post tax profits last year of €2.5m after incurring a corporation tax charge of €384,061.

The post tax profits of €2.5m last year follow post tax profits of €2.08m in 2022.

The company business is very much a family affair with Aimee Connolly's mother, Claire, and her husband, John Greene sitting on the board with Ms Connolly.

Mr Greene - who runs a number of Camile Thai franchises with friend and Galway hurling legend Joe Canning - joined the Sculpted by Aimee board in December 2022.

Pay to directors last year increased from €80,000 to €200,000.

Last year, the company's cash funds increased by €751,000 from €2.6m to €3.4m while the amount owed by debtors to the business last year increased from €4.01m to €4.92m.
