One of the most sought after properties on the grounds of the luxurious K Club golf resort in Co Kildare, 3 Churchfields has sold for €6m.
The home was originally constructed as the final home for the late horse trainer, Vincent O'Brien and his wife, Jacqueline, after they moved from their equine training facility Ballydoyle.
A new entry on the Property Price Register confirms that 3 Churchfields recently sold for €6m.
This is more than double the €2.85m secured for the home when it was last on the market in December 2020.
The 2020 sale went through only three weeks after the property was put on the market.
3 ChurchFields is one of the biggest homes on the exclusive K Club grounds in Straffan, Co Kildare and is a vast 582sq m (6,246sq ft) five bed bedroomed home.
Number 3, Churchfields was constructed in 1997 as a home for the O'Briens after they moved from their equine training facility Ballydoyle.
On a 0.6 acre site it is the largest of 20 houses overlooking the golf course which staged the 2006 Ryder Cup. The property first sold for €2.3m in May 2017.
The new sale was entered on the Property Price Register on September 27th and on the same day the sale of another property on one of Ireland’s most exclusive addresses was also recorded.

The two recent sales brings to three the number of sales at Churchfields in 2024. The Property Price Register records that No 12 Churchfields sold for €3m and the date of sale was January 11th this year.
Nursing homes investor, Michael Fetherston purchased the K Club resort made up of a hotel, country club and two golf courses from previous owner, Michael Smurfit for around €65m in February 2020.
The most recent accounts show that revenues at the group which operates the K Club hotel and golf resort increased by almost €10m in 2022 as the business rebounded from the business impact of the pandemic.
Consolidated accounts filed by Bishopscourt Investments Ltd and subsidiaries show that revenues increased by €9.97m or 69pc rising from €14.5m to €24.48m.
The group’s pre-tax losses for the Co Kildare hotel and resort increased by 13pc from €1.94m to €2.19m.
The chief factor behind the increased pre-tax losses was the group’s non-cash depreciation costs rising by €131,000 from €3.255m to €3.386m.
The directors state that they are satisfied with performance of the business during 2022 and the group’s profit before depreciation and amortisation charges amounted to €1.2m which compared to €1.3m for 2021.
