Yuno Energy is entering the gas market in a move that the energy supplier said will complement its existing electricity offer.

The company launched a year ago selling electricity to retail customers across the country, and now has 30,000 customers.

Yuno Energy will supply gas at 8.23 cent per unit which is the cheapest price in the market.

The company is also offering electricity at 23.96 cent per unit. It offers the cheapest price for new customers of electricity only, gas only, and dual use customers.

Yuno Energy operates a monthly bill pay service for customers. The Irish company offers a mobile phone app service which gives customers control in real time over how much they are spending on their energy costs.

It says, based on average usage of 4,200kWh for electricity and 11,000kWh for gas, a customer who joins Yuno Energy today can expect savings up to €581 over the coming year on their electricity costs, €333 on their gas costs and €914 on by using Yuno Energy for both electricity and gas.

On a like-for-like consumption basis Yuno Energy is offering a fixed rate for an average user of €1,268 for electricity, €1,176 for gas and €2,400 for dual use.

The rate is fixed and will not vary with increases in wholesale electricity or gas costs. This compares to an average tariff across the other suppliers of €1,849 for electricity €1,509 for gas and €3,3,358 for dual use customers.

Cathal Fay, Yuno Energy CEO, said, the company is delighted with the success it's enjoyed since launch a year ago. "This is the perfect time to extend our offering to gas customers and to offer them the same competitive prices and the unique level of control over their energy consumption which has been so popular with our customers over the past year."

"There are very significant savings to be secured for customers particularly those who have not moved their supplier over the past year. We anticipate savings on a like-for-like basis of €581 for electricity customers, €333 for gas customers and €914 for customers of both".

Yuno Energy is run by the people behind Prepay Power – Ireland's largest pay-as-you-go provider with over 180,000 electricity customers, 60,000 gas customers and over 400 staff.

Yuno Energy is a separate business which operates independently with its own app and a seven day a week call centre. Unlike Prepay Power Yuno Energy charges customers on a monthly bill-pay basis.
