Wholesale electricity prices have seen significant changes over the last two years, with prices down by 74.1% in August of this year compared with the peak that occurred in August 2022.

New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that wholesale electricity prices have decreased by 9.5% in August compared to July, and are 5.6% lower than August of last year.

Today's CSO figures show that producer prices for food products fell by 0.2% in the month and dropped by 2.2% in the 12 months to August.

Food categories which saw notable changes in August compared to the same month in 2023, included Fish & Fish Products, which rose by 7.7%, while Grain Milling, Starches & Animal Feeds fell by 4.7%.

The CSO said that wholesale prices fell in August with a drop of 4.3% in the overall Producer Price Index for manufacturing industries.

Producer prices for products sold on the domestic market were 0.9% higher in August on last year, while export producer prices fell by 1.9% while overall producer prices were down by 1.7%.
