Solar and energy storage project developer Circal has received an investment of €15m from Octopus Energy Generation.

"We are focused on developing utility-scale projects from site identification through to working with landowners to benefit them and in tandem deliver renewable energy solutions that will ultimately contribute to reducing carbon use and assist achieve net zero ambitions," Bill Sadlier, said chief executive of Circal.

"This strategic investment and partnership with Octopus Energy Generation reflects our shared vision of a future powered by renewable energy."

Octopus Energy Generation already manages 260 MW worth of solar and wind farms in Ireland.

It has also backed developers of rooftop solar projects and floating offshore wind farms.

"Octopus has a significant global track record in the clean energy space and has been accelerating its Irish renewables activity in the past year too," said Mr Sadlier.

"This investment will accelerate our business plans and increase the number of solar energy projects in our portfolio."

Currently Circal has a total of 4.5GW of capacity in its pipeline in Ireland and the US.
