Kildare Ticketmaster customers spent the most on Oasis tickets for the band's two gigs in Dublin next year according to the latest AIB Spend Trend, shelling out €466 per transaction.

The trend also shows that Oasis fans set two records for spending so far in 2024.

AIB said that Saturday August 31 saw the highest average transaction value for tickets among the bank's customers so far this year at €347. This marked a 300% increase on the average transaction for 2024 to date (€87).

August 31 also saw the highest total spend on tickets this year at about €6.3m.

AIB noted that the highest spend per transaction on tickets that day was in Kildare, followed by Monaghan (€444), Louth (€429), Roscommon (€420) and Cavan (€411).

Meanwhile, Electric Picnic fans drove the second largest ticket sales so far this year, on August 21, with an average transaction value of €231.

The total spend on tickets by AIB customers that day was about €4.8m.

When it comes to the highest spend per transaction, the top spenders came from the home of Electric Picnic - Co Laois (€320) - followed by Carlow (€259), Kildare (€257), Offaly (€244) and Kilkenny (€241).

AIB's latest report also revealed that Summer 2024 closed out well for the hospitality sector, with spending in restaurants up about 11% month on month, hotels up about 7% and pubs up about 5%.

Hospitality spend increased most among people from Kerry, with an increase of 15.7% followed by Leitrim (15.3%) and Waterford (14.9%).

Today's Spend Trend survey shows that overall spend increased by about 3% in August compared to the previous month.

People from Tipperary saw the biggest increase in overall spend, with a rise of 4.06%, followed by Waterford (3.92%) and Laois (3.85%).

Grocery spend accounts for the highest total spend per sector at about €552m, a rise of 5%.

Meanwhile, digital wallet spend increased by about 5%, while online spend and contactless spend up about 3% and chip and pin spending was static.

Today's figures also show that electric Vehicle charging spend increased by 9% in August compared to July, while it jumped by 44% compared to August 2023.

Adrian Moynihan, Head of Consumer at AIB, said that August was a very busy month for ticket sales, with a number of high-profile concerts and events going on sale.

"It was also a busy month for the hospitality sector as you would expect, which finished out strongly for summer 2024. And interestingly, homeware spend rose 13%, as people chose to invest in their homes and gardens during the summer months," he said.

"These insights are vital for businesses, to help them plan accordingly, grow their business and support our customer's choices," he added.
