Bord Bia, the Irish food board is set to hold a number of workshops on upcoming UK customs and trade regulations.
The workshops are open to food, drink and horticulture businesses.
They aim to provide insights for exporters into customers, trade and product compliance requirements needed for trading with the UK market.
From October 31, food and drink exporters in Ireland will be required to comply with additional trade requirements under the UK Border Target Operating Model (BTOM).
This will involve products of all risk levels experiencing checks upon entering Great Britain, with the exception of specific low-risk plants. Failure to comply with checks may result in products being rejected at the border.
In advance of these enhanced requirements, Bord Bia will run the free workshops over four days from 27 August to 30 August,
"Over the four days, attendees will benefit from a detailed overview of customs, tax and trade requirements, information on definitions and compliance requirements for different products, clarification on customer and supplier responsibilities and insights on SPS and other international health protection document procedures," Bord Bia said.
It will also provide updates on the UK BTOM relevant to Irish producers and offer advice for businesses to collaborate with logistics team to efficiently navigate additional requirements.
Two general workshops on trade and customs requirements will take place on Tuesday, 27 August at the Anner Hotel, Tipperary and Wednesday, 28 August at the Kilashee Hotel, Kildare.
Two further workshops focussed on the horticulture sector will also take place. A session preparing businesses ahead of the Christmas Tree season will be held at the Parkview Hotel, Wicklow on Thursday, 29 August. A final workshop on nursery stock will take place at the Kilashee Hotel in Kildare on Friday, 30 August.
