Almost 60% of members believe their Credit Union has undertaken considerable transformation over the past five years, a new survey shows.
It reveals that just under 80% of members agree that technology is crucial in managing their daily lives.
The research was carried out by Metamo, a joint venture between 16 of Ireland's largest Credit Unions.
It was developed with the ambition to deliver a better, stronger and sustainable future for Credit Unions in Ireland.
The key areas of focus for Metamo are product and technology innovation and providing access to services aimed at transforming the Credit Union market position.
"In an environment where Credit Unions need to evolve to cater for changing member's needs, it is incumbent on the sector to embrace innovative solutions and technologies," said Neale Richmond, Minister of State for Financial Services, Credit Unions and Insurance.
"Metamo has successfully deployed some of these solutions across the sector and I strongly encourage their continued innovation and support of the Credit Union sector," he added.
Denis Cleary, CEO of Metamo said they have brought together best in class technologies and industry partners.
"We have developed a sophisticated set of products and services that enable the Credit Union to modernise and adapt to members’ demands and deliver a new suite of services in collaboration with their strategic needs," he said.
