New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that wholesale electricity prices were unchanged in June when compared with May 2024, and were 8% lower than the same month last year.

The CSO noted that wholesale electricity prices have decreased by 40.7% since June 2022 and have dropped by 72.2% when compared with their peak in August 2022.

Today's CSO figures also show that producer prices for food products rose by 0.4% in June on a monthly basis, but fell by 4.4% on an annual basis.

Producer prices for Dairy Products decreased by 0.3% in the month to June and have dropped by 13.9% since June last year.

Other food categories showed notable changes in June included Grain Milling, Starches & Animal Feeds, which fell by 5.3%, while Fish & Fish Products increased by 7.6%.

The CSO said that overall, wholesale price inflation showed an increase in June with a rise of 2.3% in the overall Producer Price Index for manufacturing industries in the month.
