New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that the seasonally adjusted Live Register total for June decreased by 1,300 (0.8%) to 171,500 people compared the previous month.
The CSO said the unadjusted Live Register total stood at 174,909 people for June.
Today's figures show that of the 174,909 people on the unadjusted Live Register in June, 53.3% were men.
They also reveal that the 35-44 age group made up the largest number of those on the Live Register in June at 40,692 people or 23.3% of the total.
Meath was the only county that recorded an increase in the number of people on the Live Register in the 12 months to June, with the numbers there up 4.5%.
The Live Register is not designed to measure unemployment as it includes part-time workers as well as seasonal and casual workers who are entitled to Jobseeker's Benefit or Jobseeker's Allowance.
Figures earlier this week from the CSO showed that the unemployment rate here rose slightly to 4.2% in June from a near record low of 4% a month earlier.
The jobless rate has stayed between 4% and 4.6% for more than two years, indicating that the economy is at or very near full employment, where just about everyone who wants a job has one.
