A €2.4 billion investment has been announced for the further development of the Kildare Innovation Campus (KIC) site.
Formerly the home of Hewlett Packard, Kildare Innovation Campus is located between Celbridge and Leixlip.
The campus has capacity for a further 3,000 jobs if plans for KIC are fully realised.
KIC CEO Allan Shine said the 184 acres site will be "Europe's most advanced, carbon neutral campus", using indigenous power generated from renewable sources.
An economic assessment prepared by Grant Thornton has estimated that the total economic output from the expanded Kildare Innovation Campus will be €5bn.
The campus is already home to MGS Ireland, Mercury, Hewlett Packard Enterprises, Cully Automation, DXC Technology and Nikon Precision Europe, which currently employ over 1000 people.
A purpose built innovation hub is being developed, which is described as "a dedicated landing space for both high potential deep tech scale up's in Ireland and foreign direct investment".
Planning permission was approved for the expansion of the campus in January.
Since then, all but one of the new buildings have been pre-let to global blue chip technology companies.
Preparatory works are underway to develop the buildings as well as the erection of a cycle and pedestrian bridge linking Celbridge and Leixlip towns over the M4 motorway.
