Insurance broker Arachas has announced a deal to buy Gilmartin Insurances, a general insurance business operating out of Manorhamilton in Co Leitrim, for an undisclosed sum.

Today's deal comes on the back of several acquisitions around the country, including Tom Fogarty Insurances in Tipperary last month. Arachas also previously bought businesses with operations in Mayo, Sligo and Donegal.

Established in the early 1960s, Gilmartin Insurances serves the North and South Leitrim, West Cavan, South Donegal and East Sligo markets.

The business specialises in home insurance, vehicle insurance, business and farm insurance and caters for the personal and business market.

Owner John Gilmartin will stay on with the business to ensure that all customers will have a smooth transfer as well as access to a great range of insurance products. The existing staff will also join the Arachas team after the deal.

John Gilmartin said that after over six decades of providing insurance services in the region, he wasproud to see the business in the capable hands of the Arachas North West team.

"The staff and I are looking forward to working with the Arachas team and are committed to ensuring a smooth transition whereby our fantastic customers can deal directly with their usual brokers while having access to the full range of the expanded Arachas products and services," Mr Gilmartin added.

Joey Wynne, CEO of Arachas, said today's deal marks an important acquisition for Arachas in the North West of Ireland.

"Since becoming CEO, I have been focused on strengthening our regional presence across the country, first in the Mid West and now in the North West, to ensure that customers in every corner of the country have access to the highest quality of services," he stated.

"I am delighted to welcome Gilmartin Insurances to the Arachas family, and I look forward to seeing further developments in the area," the CEO added.
