IKEA is opening its latest plan and order point, which is located in Sligo.

It is the sixth such outlet that the Swedish furniture retailer has opened here and its first in the northwest.

Three more are in planning and will open in stages over the next year.

"We are thrilled to introduce a slice of Swedish design and affordable home solutions to new areas of Ireland, where we haven't previously been physically present," said Martyn Allan, Market Manager, IKEA Ireland.

The new outlet will be located at The Canopy shopping centre in Sligo.

IKEA's first plan and order point was launched in Naas three years ago and it has subsequently opened outlets in Cork, Drogheda, Carlow and St Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre in Dublin.

The shops enable customers to view some ranges, design with a specialist and then order the materials for delivery.

Earlier this week the retailer opened its new customer distribution centre in Rathcoole, Co. Dublin, its first in the country, which it said will cut delivery times.

The company has today also announced further price cuts across 300 products as cost pressures ease, bringing to over 2,000 the total number of items that prices have been reduced on.

It follows a drop in purchasing costs last year, which had climbed in the period after the Covid-19 pandemic began to ease.
