New figures from financial app Revolut shows that spending here via the app over the St Patrick's Day weekend rose by 4% compared to the same time last year.
Revolut, which has over 2.7 million customers in Ireland, said that more than 5.25 million card payments were made over the March holiday weekend.
It said that when figures are adjusted for user growth, spending in bars, cafes, night clubs, and restaurants fell by a collective 6.75%.
But consumers were still very much out and about over the weekend with spending on commuter transport rising by 13.66% and taxis increasing by 7.49%.
Meanwhile, spending in men's and women's clothing stores rose by 2.5%, with department store spend rising a substantial 11.7% increase.
Today's figures also show that demand for fast food rose by 5.7% on 2022 while spending on meal delivery shot jumped by 6.5%.
Grocery store and supermarket spending was also higher, rising by 5.33%, while spending on beer and wine was at a rate similar to that of St Patrick's Day in 2023, with the amount customers spending on alcohol rising by just 0.88%.
Nearly one million more Revolut card payments were made on St Patrick’s Day weekend this year compared to last year, today's figures also show.
Maurice Murphy, General Manager at Revolut Bank UAB - Ireland Branch, said the app's growth in Ireland is signified by the "whopping" 5 million card payments recorded over the recent bank holiday weekend.
"We plan to add even more new and innovative products to our offering later this year across savings, credit, and more, as we continue growing our existing customer base," he said.
"Since introducing local IBANs in Ireland, an increasing number of our Irish customers trust Revolut as their primary bank account," he added.
