Penneys set to open Bray store this summer

Penneys has confirmed that its new store in Bray, Co Wicklow will open in the coming months.

The Irish retailer said the unit has officially been handed over to Penneys and works will now begin on the store fit out.

It expects to open to customers this summer, with the official opening date yet to be confirmed.

The new Bray store will be Penneys’ first in Co Wicklow, and its 38th store in Ireland.

It will span 19,600 sq. ft of retail space and will be located in the Bray Central Shopping Centre.

The new store in Bray is part of Primark’s commitment to invest over €250 million in Ireland over a ten-year period, which includes the development, relocation and/or refurbishment of its stores across the country.

The investment also includes a €75 million state-of-the-art warehousing and distribution facility in Newbridge, Co. Kildare, which is currently being built.

Primark is also accelerating the pace of its international expansion, with ambitions to reach 530 stores by the end of 2026, including the upcoming new market of Hungary which will open this year.

The retailer said recruitment for the new Bray store will begin in the coming months.
