Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland is meeting with US studios this week to promote the Irish screen industry ahead of Sunday's Oscars.

The organisation hopes to capitalise on the success of Irish producers and actors at this year's Academy Awards.

Element Pictures-produced Poor Things is the second-most nominated film at the awards.

While Cillian Murphy is up for the coveted Best Actor Award for Oppenheimer.

The sector will also be hoping to build momentum following the changes to the Section 481 tax relief in the last budget.

They saw the eligible expenditure budget ceiling for the film and television tax credit increase from €70 million to €125 million.

Screen Ireland will also focus on the Irish animation and VFX industry

"Screen Ireland is incredibly proud of the international recognition and acclaim Irish artists and creatives have garnered again this year," said Désirée Finnegan, Chief Executive of Screen Ireland.

"This week provides a significant business opportunity to promote the Irish industry and further strengthen our relationships with US studios and partners."

"It ensures that Ireland can develop the talent, skills and infrastructure to support the next generation of Irish storytelling on screen."
