The vast majority of consumers feel they are supporting local jobs by buying products with the Guaranteed Irish symbol.

The Red C research, conducted to mark Guaranteed Irish's 50th anniversary, found 91% of consumers see it as a positive for local employment.

Meanwhile 81% say the Guaranteed Irish brand stands out in its support of local jobs, community and the circular economy.

A similar proportion feel that they are "promoting a sustainable economy" by buying Guaranteed Irish.

Guaranteed Irish was established in 1974 and today has more than 2,000 members, with a combined 120,000 employees.

Last month a commemorative stamp was launched to mark the organisation's 50th anniversary.
