The Finance Minister says there will be a further substantial income tax package in the next budget.
Michael McGrath said there will be scope to do this because over 2.7 million people are employed - the highest number ever.
He added that reducing the burden of personal taxation is part of the Programme for Government.
"We have an economy now that has reached over 2.7 million people at work, which is the highest number ever. We actually added about 90,000 people in the last 12 months," Mr McGrath said.
"And if you look at where we were immediately pre-Covid, not only have we regained all those jobs that were lost in Covid, but we've actually about 330,000 more in terms of number of people at work - that's four full Croke parks extra working compared to say January 2020," he stated.
The Minister also pointed out that he has already reduced USC and improved income tax credits.
Speaking on RTÉ's Today with Claire Byrne show, the Minister also said that no decisions have been made on changes to how the television licence fee is funded or how RTÉ will be funded into the future.
Michael McGrath said a form of charge should be retained but could not say who should collect it.

Any new charge would need to be properly scoped out and would require legislation, he said. "We are not at that point," he added.
The Minister said that people should renew their licences because it is important for the good work that is done in RTÉ every day.
He said the Government supports public service broadcasting but added that he did not believe it would be a good idea for RTÉ to be funded entirely by the exchequer.
This would leave the organisation "entirely at the mercy of the government of the day", he stated.
