The world's largest aircraft lessor AerCap Holdings has announced a new leasing deal with Thai Airways International for a total of 17 new planes.
The new planes include four Airbus A350-900 aircraft and three Boeing 787-9 aircraft as well as ten Airbus A321NEO planes.
Dublin-based AerCap said that of the four A350 aircraft, two have already been delivered with the other two planes scheduled for delivery in the first and second quarter of 2024.
The 787 deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of this year up to the fourth quarter of 2025, while deliveries of the A321NEOs are due to start in the third quarter of 2025 and will continue up to the second quarter of 2026.
AerCap's business relationship with Thai Airways began in the mid-1990s with the lease of Boeing 737-400s and Airbus A330-300s.
Peter Anderson, the Chief Commercial Officer of AerCap, said the lessor was very pleased with the "significant transaction" with Thai Airways, which will support the airline with both its widebody and narrowbody fleet modernisation plan as it emerges from a very challenging period.
"We have worked closely together during both the upcycles and downcycles to maintain and strengthen the partnership between our two companies. We thank Thai Airways for their business and look forward to working with them as these aircraft deliver, and beyond," Mr Anderson said.
Chai Eamsiri, the chief executive of Thai Airways, said today's "significant milestone" is a testament to the trust and commitment the two companies share.
"The addition of these new generation aircraft enhances our ability to swiftly adapt to the evolving market demands, and not only enhances our operational capacity but also offers exceptional levels of comfort for our passengers," the CEO added.
