60% of adults in Ireland took two or more holidays abroad last year, new research from Aer Lingus shows.
The data reveals that 41% of people set New Year's resolutions to travel more this year, alongside health and financial goals.
Spain is the top European destination for 60% of travellers this year, followed by Portugal, and France.
Other popular destinations include the Greek islands, Turkey and Sicily.
Further afield, the most popular North American destinations for 2024 travel are New York, Florida and Boston.
55% of those surveyed are looking forward to lounging on a beach this year, while 53% want to explore cities around the world. More women than men selected a beach holiday as their top choice.
Over half of respondents said they get their holiday recommendations from family and friends, while 30% get their inspiration from Instagram.
When it comes to booking a holiday, the research shows that cost is the deciding factor for travel for 35% of those surveyed, followed by the desire for sunshine and the appeal of the destination.
For those aged 65 and older, cost is less of a concern - influencing only 13% of travellers in this age group.
