Energy supplier Yuno has announced another cut in electricity prices for new customers.

It is now offering a standard unit rate of 28.93 cent per kilowatt hour, down 8% on its previous rate.

Yuno said the total cost for a typical customer will be €1,480 per year which it claims is more than €500 cheaper than the average standard rates from other suppliers.

This is after all recently announced decreases by other suppliers take effect, the company noted.

Yuno Energy started operating in the electricity market here in August of last year and is run by the people behind Prepaypower, the country's biggest pay-as-you-go provider with over 180,000 electricity and 60,000 gas customers.

It is a separate business which operates independently with its own App and a seven day a week call centre and is available to customers across the country.

Cathal Fay, Yuno CEO, said that customers can avail of the company's market beating rate and keep an eye on their energy costs with the Yuno Energy App.

Mr Fay also said the company has beaten its target of attracting over 10,000 customers to Yuno Energy between its launch in August and the end of December.
