Vodafone's review of 2023 shows that evenings were the busiest periods on its networks, with 9pm typically the busiest hour on the mobile network and 10pm on the fixed network.
The Vodafone research shows that Sundays see the peak of activity on the broadband network, experiencing the highest traffic volume.
It also reveals that Fridays show a distinctive surge from 2pm onward, surpassing the acceleration seen on any other weekday.
Vodafone said that overall, Irish customers consumed 28% more Mobile Data compared to 2022, driven by increased streaming demand as they move away from traditional television.
Meanwhile Vodafone customers made 3.90 billion voice calls in 2023, a decrease from the 4.05 billion calls made in 2022.
The company said it continued to grow its customer base over the year, with a 4% increase in mobile customers and a 3% increase in fixed as it reported a total of 2.4 million customers across all products, consumer and business.
Almost 500 additional 4G/ 5G locations were added to Vodafone's network during 2023.
Today's figures also show that rugby fixtures were the most viewed events on Vodafone TV this year. In a Rugby World Cup year, coming out on top for the most viewed event was the Six Nations Scotland v Ireland game, followed by the Ireland v France encounter.
Football secured the third spot for the UEFA Euro Qualifier Ireland v France, while just outside the top five, in 6th place was the All-Ireland Final, Dublin v Kerry in July, followed by Ryan Tubridy's last night of hosting the Late Late Show in May, which took 7th place.
Vodafone's Hi Digital initiative, which began in 2021, continued to pick up pace this year, as more older people sought the support of the free online digital support platform to grow their digital skills and get online.
Hi Digital now has 17,000 users on its website, five new modules for smartphones introduced this year, and over 5,000 people trained with Vodafone's charity partners - Alone and Irish Girl Guides - to help bring older people through the Hi Digital platform.
In her first full yeas as CEO of Vodafone Ireland, Amanda Nelson said she was committed to ensuring Vodafone Ireland was investing in quality services and network expansion.
"In addition to substantial investment in our network, a key focus for us was on customer service enhancement and ensuring our customers’ needs are continually met. We were pleased to reward customer loyalty this year with our new Fair Pricing broadband structure, a first of its kind in Ireland, and our updated Red Family plan, as well as introducing cellular smartwatch connectivity to the Irish market in the form of OneNumber," Ms Nelson said.
