Elgin Energy sells 16 Irish solar projects to Allianz

Allianz Capital Partners has bought 16 solar energy projects in Ireland from international solar company Elgin Energy.

Elgin will continue to provide construction, asset management, trading and optimisation services to the portfolio which totals 191MW.

14 out of the 16 projects have secured contracts under the Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS) 2.

The other two have secured RESS 3 contracts.

The projects will start construction next year and will become active throughout 2024 and 2025.

"This is a pivotal moment for Elgin Energy," said Ronan Kilduff, CEO of Elgin Energy.

"What we meticulously planned and worked towards over the past three years is now being realised through this project with Allianz Capital Partners."

Founded in 2009, Elgin Energy has a pipeline of over 14GW in projects across the UK, Ireland and Australia.

It employs over 80 people in its Dublin, London and Sydney offices.
