Ryanair has said it will pay an interim dividend for the financial year 2024 of 17.5 cent per share.
It will be paid on February 28th to shareholders who are on the register on January 19.
The move follows the airline's announcement at its half-year results in November of a plan to return to regular payouts.
It said at the time that its shareholders had invested €400m in a share placing during the peak of the Covid crisis in 2020, which was key to it subsequently issuing an €850m bond that helped the group emerge from the pandemic in a position of unrivalled strategic and financial strength.
As a result, it said it would pay a maiden ordinary dividend of €400m or around €0.35 per share through an interim and final dividend of €200m each, in February 2024 and after the AGM in September 2024.
It also said that from the financial year 2025 onwards it planned to return approximately 25% of prior-year profit after tax through an ordinary dividend.
The company also said it would consider the return of surplus cash to shareholders through special dividends and/or share buybacks, depending on prevailing market conditions and its cash levels.
The airline reported a strong half-year profit of €2.18 billion in November, following its strong recovery from the pandemic.
