The competition regulator has given its approval to Select Tech Group's plan to buy the DID Electrical chain.
The green light from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has enabled the deal between the parties to complete, creating a retail group with annual revenue of €250m.
The deal between the two Irish firms was revealed last month, but financial details were not disclosed.
It will bring the total number of stores in the Select Tech Group to 29 in Ireland and 51 in total across Ireland and the UK.
Under the deal, DID will continue to trade under its existing brand.
However, the premium styled customer experience offered by Select Tech Group will be integrated into DID outlets, as will DID staff.
Select Tech Group also says it plans to enhance the DID offering in Ireland.
An Apple Premium Reseller , Select Tech Group already has outlets in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway.
Previously known as Compu b before its rebranding last year, Select has an additional 22 shops in the UK and also offers business and education services.
DID Electrical was founded in a Georgian house in Dublin’s Mountjoy Square by accountant Gerry Houlihan in 1968.
Over the intervening years the business opened stores all over the country and grew its online presence.
In 2021, the last year for which accounts have been submitted, the group company, Home Appliances Unlimited, made €5.23m in pre-tax profits, following a €466,574 loss the previous year.
