The latest figures from the Central Statistics Office show that the seasonally adjusted Live Register total for November decreased by 1,400 people, or 0.8%, to 174,100 people from the previous month.
The CSO said the unadjusted Live Register total stood at 169,446 people in November. Of the people signing on, 54.7% were men.
Today's figures show that the percentage increases in the number of people on the Live Register were recorded in Meath, up 5%, Leitrim, up 4.2% and Sligo, up 0.2%.
All other counties saw a decrease in the 12 months to November.
The 35-44 age group made up the largest number of those on the Live Register in November at 40,156 people or 23.7% of the total.
The CSO also noted that the number of people on the Live Register for one year or more stood at 61,229, down 0.7% on the same time last year.
A total of 22,005 people were benefitting from the EU's Temporary Protection Directive included in the Live Register figures for November 2023, a rise of 65 people from October, the CSO added.
The Live Register is not designed to measure unemployment as it includes part-time workers as well as seasonal and casual workers who are entitled to Jobseeker's Benefit or Jobseeker's Allowance.
Figures earlier this week from the CSO showed that the country's unemployment rate rose to 4.8% in November, up from a revised rate of 4.7% in October. The jobless rate had stood at 4.5% in November last year.
