British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's office said today that Jeremy Hunt would remain as finance minister, after Mr Sunak made changes to his top team of ministers.
The autumn statement is due next week from Chancellor Jeremy Hunt.
The Chancellor has been under pressure from some Tory MPs to offer tax cuts in the build-up to the general election expected next year but has prioritised efforts to cut inflation.
Downing Street confirmed he would remain in place as Rishi Sunak conducted a reshuffle of his top team.
The reshuffle, triggered by Rishi Sunak's decision to sack Suella Braverman from the Home Office, sees David Cameron made a dramatic return to Government as Foreign Secretary.
The former prime minister replaces James Cleverly as Foreign Secretary and will be given a peerage.
