Unemployment in the euro zone fell in September, according to new figures from Eurostat today.
The euro zone had an unemployment rate of 6.5% in the month - up slightly on August but down on the 6.7% reading in September of last year.
Today's Eurostat figures show that in real terms there were just over 11 million people unemployed in the euro area in the month - down 212,000 year on year.
Malta had the lowest rate at 2.8%, followed by Germany at 3%, while Spain had the highest unemployment rate at 12%, followed by Greece at 10%.
Figures from the Central Statistics Office earlier this week showed that the Irish unemployment rate rose slightly to a rate of 4.8% in October, compared to 4.7% in September.
The CSO said this compared to a rate of 4.5% in October last year.
