Solar installation company Activ8 has opened a new depot in Naas, Co Kildare, which it says marks a significant expansion in its business.

It has described the new 650 sqm facility as the cornerstone of its growth plans, which also involves the expansion of its headquarters in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan, and an increase in employee numbers.

It has also secured planning permission for an extra, standalone warehouse at its headquarters.

Last year Active8 announced the creation of 200 new jobs as it saw demand for solar energy installations increase, with half of which have already been filled.

It said its depot expansion in Naas had already created 15 new jobs at the firm.

"Our new headquarters extension in Carrickmacross and the establishment of the Naas depot represent our dedication to providing the highest quality solar solutions to customers across Ireland," said Activ8 CEO Ciaran Marron.

"The creation of jobs in both locations signifies our ongoing commitment to local communities, and we look forward to welcoming many more talented individuals to our team."

Activ8 was established in 2007 and has completed more than 18,000 installations in Ireland since then.

In 2018, SSE Airtricity agreed to take a 40% stake in the business. Today the energy firm owns a 50% stake in the company.
