Retail and hospitality software company CBE is to create 25 new jobs in Claremorris in Co Mayo.

CBE develops and supplies electronic point of sale (EPoS) solutions for the retail and hospitality sectors.

Set up in 1980 by Gerard Concannon and his wife Catherine, CBE has grown to become one of the largest EPoS providers in Europe.

It now supports clients in mainland Europe, the Nordics, Canada, Australia, the Middle East and Africa.

After market research with the support of Enterprise Ireland, the company is now also preparing to build on its presence in the UK and expand into new markets within the euro zone.

CBE's Managing Director Gearóid Concannon said the company was experiencing high growth, which is increasing demand across all of its services.

"Both the retail and hospitality sectors are undergoing a significant transformation, embracing innovative technology. Innovation through continuous Research and Development has been the cornerstone of our business and it is through this that we have increased our market share in Ireland and significantly grown in our export markets year-on-year," he added.

Anne Lanigan, Divisional Manager, Technology and Services with Enterprise Ireland said the agency has been working with CBE since 1998 and over this time the company has gone from strength-to-strength, growing a strong customer base internationally while continuing to recruit staff at home.

"Retail is a fast-moving business and the methods of payment at the point of sale are evolving continually. CBE is at the forefront of this innovation, developing solutions to meet the ever-changing demands of their customers," she said.

"Supporting Irish companies with the ambition to scale globally is a key priority for Enterprise Ireland and we look forward to working closely with CBE to optimise their full international growth potential, creating and sustaining jobs here in the West of Ireland," she added.
