James Garvey has been appointed as non-executive Chair and a director of stockbrokers Goodbody and will take up the position with immediate effect.

The appointment comes after the passing of Goodbody's previous Chair Gary Kennedy earlier this year, from which time Goodbody non-executive director Joan Kehoe acted as Interim Chair.

James Garvey is currently Chair of Martello Expert Services, which he co-founded in 2019.

He also serves as an independent non-executive director on the boards of S&P Global Ratings Europe and S&P Global Ratings UK.

Mr Garvney was previously Head of the Markets Division and a member of the Commercial Banking Executive Committee at Lloyds Bank. He has also worked for Citigroup, UBS, and Goldman Sachs.

Goodbody CEO Martin Tormey said the company will benefit from Mr Garvey's "vast investment banking experience", particularly in the months ahead as it refocuses the business through investment in strategic growth opportunities.

"His appointment reflects our strategic ambitions as we seek to position ourselves for long-term success," Mr Tormey said.
